This week I had the pleasure of working with the Wald family of Rawhide Quarter Horses, based out of Lodge Grass, Montana. For 20+ years the Walds have been breeding top notch quarter horses, but you wouldn’t know it looking at their old catalogue photos. I am so excited that they ask me to help them promote their business!
Hmm… So how do we show their good sides?
Here are some tips:
Brush the horse out.
Either ditch the halter or use a clean one in decent shape. Yeah, ranchers, I’m talking to you!
Take photos in full sun (que the gasp of every photographer, ever). The sun and shadows highlight the muscles and silky coat really nicely.
Back the horse up to square up his horse’s feet. This gets the hind legs underneath them. You want that!
Stand back towards the hind quarters and get low.
Et viola! C’est magique!
What tips and tricks do you use?
Anyways, here are some photos and promotional videos I did for the “REAL” Ranch Horse Sale in Billings Montana. Rawhide Quarter Horses are the real deal! They are gorgeous, smart, quiet, hard working ranch horses. I’m really excited to see how high quality photography and the right angles helps the Wald family grow their business.
